In the heart of Southcentral Alaska, at Girdwood, is Historic Crow Creek Gold Mine. This is a favourite painting spot for me,  and the old truck is an original from the site. Established in 1896, it has been one of the largest placer gold mines in Alaska.

This painting was begun from life and has just had a refresher touch-up in the studio. There is still much snow at the mine at the moment, but will be back in the summer to paint more.
